Our activities started bright and early Saturday as we offered to watch our friend Andrea and Eliud's son, Mateo so they could attend a baptism class. Mateo is 6 months old and is a total sweetie. It was fun to watch him interact with Connor. I know Mateo is 3 months younger than Connor, but Connor was sooo much bigger than him. It was kind of funny. Luckily he wasn't a bully though. He did pretty well sharing his toys.
I will say though, even a relatively easy baby like Mateo has needs and when you add Connor's needs and Mateo's needs together at once, it is still a little challenging. I was certainly glad Jeff was around but it made me realize how much harder it will be when we have more kids. Yikes.
Mateo left around 1pm and at 2pm, we attended Connor's first birthday party. It was for a three year old that lives three doors down from us. We all met at the fire station, where we got to see and climb in the fire truck. Then, they gave us a tour of the fire station. It was pretty neat to see all the gadgets and things on the truck, like a chain saw and it even has its own exhaust system, so they can run the truck inside. Connor liked observing everything.
After the fire station, we all went back to our neighbor's house for presents, cupcakes, and a bounce house. We couldn't stay long, because Connor was past due for his afternoon nap, but we enjoyed our time while we were there. I'm glad we've got such nice neighbors.
It's good that I attend some kid birthday parties, because I've got to start thinking about Connor's first birthday party. I know it's three months away, but I've already started getting some ideas together. The hardest part for me, is the fact that it could be 95 and humid on his birthday every year. You just don't know how warm June 19th will be. We'll have fun though, that I'm sure of.
Saturday night, we wanted to keep enjoying the gorgeous weather so we went to a Mexican restaurant and ate outside. We all enjoyed our meal, and Connor got a few bites of Mexican food. Yummy.
Sunday was another beautiful day. We kept busy during the day but had time after Connor's second nap to sit outside (with a cold beer) and enjoy the weather. Man, this time of year is gorgeous. I am thinking winter is finally behind us. Thank goodness. Let's just hope Spring doesn't blend into Summer too soon. For now, I'll enjoy the 70 and 80 degree days.
It was a little warm, so after we changed his diaper Friday evening, we kept his pants off and admired his rolly polly legs. His knee folds always crack me up.
