We filled out some paperwork and met with the nurse right away. She measured him and he was 22 inches long. That lands him in the 95th percentile in height. Wow. She also measured his head circumference and if you know my father and of course Jeff, it is no surprise to you that his head was in the 90th percentile. Connor then got weighed and he is back up to 8 pounds 15 ounces, (which is exactly what I had guessed on the car ride over). Newborns lose weight at first but by two weeks they should be back to their birth weight. Anyway, his weight landed him in the 50th percentile. From a humble Mom's perspective, I'd say that means he's long and lean and full of brains.
She checked him all over and he passed with flying colors. We don't really have any concerns at this point so it was a pretty smooth appointment all around. I thought they'd have to prick his heal to give blood but not this week so that's nice. He just got manhandled, which is not as bad.
Later today, we also took him on another outing. I had to return an item at Walgreens and we picked up carryout and Connor came with us. I was extremely nervous in Walgreens with the germs, but Jeff pushed the stroller and avoided people and we were probably in there for a grand total of 5 minutes, so I'm sure it was just fine. It was kind of fun and since my Mom stayed at home, it can be classified as our first official family outing. Very fun.
Also, at 12:22AM tonight (technically Friday), he'll be exactly a week old. I'm pretty sure I'll be up, so I'll give him a little kiss on the cheek then. It's amazing to think that last week at this time he still wasn't here. I was at the hospital waiting to meet him. It was a difficult road, but it was well worth it.
