I am not sure if it's an aberration or the beginning of the best day of my life, but for once Connor went in the swing and was fussy and calmed himself and then magically fell asleep. It's a beautiful thing.
Normally we put him in the swing and within 2 minutes he's crying and agitated. Today, I put him in relatively peaceful and although he started to fuss, I was putting in a load of laundry so I couldn't grab him right away. I was moving as fast as I could when all of a sudden, as I was dumping in the last poop soiled garment, I noticed he wasn't crying anymore.
I walked back into the living room to find Connor content and awake just chilling in the swing. I didn't want to tempt fate so I snuck around so he wouldn't see me and started making myself some breakfast. I figured about half way through I'd be interrupted by wailing, but to no avail. He stayed content looking at the mobile that moves on the top of the swing and just looking around in general. I scarfed down my breakfast just in case though. I mean, there is no way this would last...right?
Again, I wanted to avoid eye contact for fear of the "pick-me-up-Mommy" curse, but I had to check on him again. This time, when I stood up from the table and looked into the living room, what appeared before my eyes was a sleeping baby!!! Holy cow. This is huge. Again, this might be an aberration, but I'll take it.
Mommy is so shocked to have her hands free and a happily sleeping baby that she doesn't even know where to begin. Do I shower? Do I clean? Do I nap? What should I do? It's amazing. Well, wish me luck and hope this is the beginning of something beautiful and not just a fluke. Good boy Connor.
