Visit to Aggieland

This weekend, we headed up to College Station and Connor got to attend his first tailgate. No football games yet; maybe next season. We just didn't think he'd do too well in a confined space for 3 or more hours, plus the noise and the weather were not ideal.

It was actually cold. Ok, maybe cold for woosie Texan standards, but still cold nonetheless. It never got above 60, it was pretty windy, and the sun never came out, so that felt pretty darn cold. I say, if you can see your breath, it's cold. Sure, people up North are dealing with snow right now, but for Texans, 60 is cold.

Daddy, Grandpa Don, Grandma Robbyn, and Aunt Stacey went to the game and Connor and I stayed behind at a friend's tailgate. A&M played OSU and it was a close game, but they unfortunatley lost in the last 2 minutes. Ugh.

During the game, Connor and I just bundled up and hung out. There were other kids there, bigger than Connor, but they seemed to entertain Connor, so we watched them, ate yummy food, and watched the game on TV. He took one nap, but then wouldn't nap again, so he started getting fussy by the time Jeff got back from the game. Overall though, he didn't pretty well.

That missed nap totally screwed him up, because once we got home and I fed him, he resisted at first crying like crazy, but eventually he took a 3 hour nap! It was crazy. It was definitely the longest nap he's ever taken and for a while, Jeff and I were wondering if he was asleep for the night. Eventually he did wake up though and we fed him and started his getting ready for bed process and luckily he went back to sleep and slept like he knew it was bedtime, despite a recent 3 hour nap. Thank goodness. Poor boy was pooped. Tailgaiting is hard little dude.

That evening, we grilled with Jeff's parents and Aunt Stacey at my parent's Casita (they were out of town, but let us stay at their place) and watched Michigan also lose in the last minute of the game. I guess when A&M loses so does Michigan. Oh well. We both play beatable teams next weekend, so let's hope we turn this losing streak around.

It was great to hang out with Aunt Stacey, because she just accepted a job with Royal Carribean and will be leaving for 6 months starting in just two weeks. We will miss her (and of course so will Connor), but it will be a really cool experience and we're happy for her. The Holidays won't be the same, but I'm sure we'll hear from her often.

Sunday, we tidied up the house and then headed back to Sugar Land. It was still chilly and it was fun bundling Connor up again. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty glad I don't live up North where I'd have to put him in a snowsuit and hat and gloves every time I needed to run outside, but having one weekend of cold, was pretty neat and Connor just looks so adorable all snuggled in warm clothes. Supposedly it will be 90 degrees again by Wednesday and it's already back up to 75, so this cold front was short lived, but we enjoyed it while we could.

All bundled up and ready to go to his first tailgate.

I didn't have any warm A&M clothes so he's in a navy blue sweatsuit, but we thought the hat and socks would show his Aggie pride.

Checking out the tailgate site with Daddy. "Whoa, look at all the barbeque and beer. I can't wait to have that when I'm older."

Baby Aggie

We needed lots of blankets and layers to keep Connor warm on this brisk fall day.

1 and a half year old, Emme Jaeger, the daughter of our hosts, liked checking out Connor.

Aunt Stacey got to read Connor his bedtime stories. Connor will miss you, but good luck and enjoy your new adventure!

Grandma and Grandpa saying their goodbyes Sunday morning.

Practicing our sitting "skills" Sunday morning. Connor just plops over when he sits, but he's trying.
