Let the Summer Begin!

May 24th was Connor's last day of his Mother's Day Out program and since then, we've been celebrating Summer time in style.

We kicked off Summer with a trip to College Station to see family, throw my sister a baby shower and a wedding shower and to hang by the pool. We also got to meet Julie's step-son, 7 year old John. He fit right in with the crazy cousins.

We all had a great time and it was so awesome to see Connor be such a water baby. When I think back to last summer, when he didn't like the water until Labor Day (yes, the end of summer), it was just amazing to see him enjoy the pool so much. He was thrilled to jump in the pool over and over...and over again. He loved it and so did I. Of course getting in pool time with an infant is a bit more challenging, since Avery can't really get in the sun and isn't really ready to swim, but we're making it work.

Enjoy our summer fun. Next up, our weekend in Colorado for my sister's wedding.

Sweet Avery at 6 weeks old.

Hi, I'm 6 weeks old and very alert and adorable.
Jeff tried out the Ergo Baby carrier for the first time. Avery loves this thing and falls right to sleep in it.
A little kiss for his baby girl.
The last day of school, Connor posed with his teachers, Miss Jan and Miss Ashlyn.
We met some friends at a splash park in downtown Houston.
On our first night in College Station, everyone was anxious to hold baby Avery. Here Aunt Erin and Uncle Arthur relax with Avery.
Aunt Julie meeting Avery for the first time. She's getting in some baby practice of her own.
Connor showing off his cool water floats. With these things on, he can basically swim by himself. It's great.
Swimming with his cousins.
All the kids had a blast in the pool.
Avery preferred to lounge in the shade instead of swim. Hee hee.
Now she's awake and hanging with Daddy.
Look at that wild hair.
Connor wearing Daddy's cool sun hat and playing some golf by the pool.
Daddy and Connor posing by the pool.
Grandma getting some snuggles from Avery.
Hi Mommy. I'm getting cheeks like my brother aren't I.
We had a small baby shower for my sister Julie at the Miramont Country Club. I made her a diaper cake.
The gang having some chips and dips.
All the kiddos eating dinner. The one with dark hair is John, that's Julie's step son. He fit in great with his cousins.
Aunt Erin loved snuggling her niece and Grandma enjoyed holding her wine. :)
We went to the Miramont kids carnival and Connor got a spider man face painting. Very cool.
Playing with grandpa in the spa with his cousins.
Avery dancing with Daddy.
Connor was so brave. He would actually jump from the spa into the water.
Finding a shady spot for Avery by the pool.
This is what a sleepy mother of a newborn does by the pool.
Avery trying out the pool. We think she actually liked it.
On Sunday night, Avery got serenaded to sleep.
We had a wedding shower for Brian and Julie, complete with the newlywed game. Doesn't Julie look cute in her cowboy bride hat and bride tank top.
Back home, here is Avery actually enjoying looking at the toys in her bouncer. Big brother Connor looks on.
I met a friend at the Houston Galleria mall and I tried out the double stroller. It's big but it does the trick.
Connor loved playing at our neighborhood pool and spraying me and Jeff.
One morning after I fed Avery, she was very smiley so I got this photo. What a sweet, gummy smile.
We went to this Sugar Land aquatic center that has a lazy river, a big slide, and a kiddy slide. We all loved it.
Connor went down this slide probably one hundred times. He loved it.
I'm so good at lounging by the pool.
Now here are a few videos of our summer fun.
