Happy Valentine's Day and More

We've had fun the past couple of weekends and it's been nice, because we've been home. Last weekend we didn't have too many activities, although Saturday night, we did go out to dinner in Sugar Land's Town Center at this place called Shogi. It was a made to order Hibachi place, or like a Mongolian grill type place if you're familiar with that.

Anyway, we'd never been before, but it was a smashing success. We think Connor had been getting over a bit of a stomach bug (no throwing up, just some questionable poops, gas and lack of appetite), but he finally had his appetite back and boy did he show it. He ate all the food I brought for him, plus a ton of Jeff's noodle dish. He looked so funny with noodles hanging out of his mouth. He also loved people watching at this place. We hardly had to tend to him, because he was so interested in his surroundings.

We saw another example of his super stranger anxiety this night too. When we would walk by people on the sidewalk, he would literally stop walking and look down. When they walked by he would continue walking and smiling. He is going through a really shy stage with strangers. I guess that's OK.

Then Sunday was Super Bowl Sunday, so Grandma and Grandpa drove in from College Station and hung out with Connor and watched the game with us. Jeff tried out a bunch of new recipes, so it was fun to have other people to try them out with us. We made bean and cheese queso, veggies and dip, breadsticks, wings, and potstickers. Then for dessert we had a yummy Boston Cream Pie from scratch. It was all sooo good. Connor even liked most of it.

It was funny, because at first when Connor got up from his nap, we were watching some of the pre-game commentary and then also the very beginning of the game in the play room, which only has this tiny, non-HD TV, because that is where Connor was playing. We all didn't really mind though, especially when we brought some of the snacks in there and had a cold beer in our hands. Hee hee. We did eventually move to the big screen after a little while, and we certainly watched it there once Connor went to bed.

This Thursday was Connor's class Valentines party and I had to bring the cookies. I felt a little lame, but I ended up buying some mini-iced ones at Target. We got the leftovers and they were good, but I just didn't have the energy to bake cookies. What I was most excited about was Connor exchanging and receiving his first school Valentines. It was cute to see them all. I felt like he was a big boy in school. The Valentines he exchanged had a puppy on them and was pretty cute. He also got to wear a cute "Mommy's Heart Breaker" shirt. I'll certainly agree he breaks my heart with cuteness and if he stays as cute as he is now, I think he'll be breaking the ladies' hearts too.

This weekend was fun, because on Saturday, we got to meet baby Simon for the first time. He is our friend Meg and Brad's son and he is already 4 months old, so we can't believe we hadn't met him yet. He is a cutie and although, Connor seemed a bit fussy that day, we managed to have a great morning catching up and meeting the babe. There were moments when I was holding Simon and chasing after Connor and I got a glimpse into the world of two young kids. It was scary. Ha!

Today, was a gorgeous day. Finally the sun and the warmth are joining forces making being outside a must. We spent almost 3 hours at the park this morning, just hanging out, climbing, sliding, swinging, running, throwing, chasing, hiding, and of course falling down. It's been sunny, but today was also a bit warmer, so it was really nice.

On a side note, Connor has started saying "me." For example he'll say, "Me Nigh-Nigh", when he's about to go to bed. It's kind of cute. He is also saying "Bye bye" to everything that he leaves. When we leave a truck he'll say "bye bye truck." If he doesn't know who exactly it is, his default seems to be "Daddy." He tells a lot of cashiers at the grocery store, "Bye bye Daddy." It usually gets a laugh.

Well enjoy some of our weekly pics.

Looking for more food at Shogi restaurant in Sugar Land. He was very hungry that day.

Loving the chinese noodles.

Our "awesome" Super Bowl T.V. in the playroom. Ha!

Having fun with Grandpa in the playroom.

Connor eating veggies and dip on Super Bowl Sunday. He really got into the whole eating appetizers for dinner thing. Ha!

Now we've moved to the big screen to watch the big game.

Time for bed and time for stories. It looks like a very exciting book.

They seem happy to be reading.

Now finishing up with Mommy.

We played with sidewalk chalk for the first time during the week. It was fun, but it sure was messy, because he tends to sit in it and he gets the chalk all over his pants. It's pretty funny. New pants for sure.

Check out the chalk butt.

Wednesday was another really cold day (in the 30's), so we had a playdate indoors with our friend Jack and his Mom Jessica. Jack and Connor got to play and me and his Mom Jessica got to catch up with coffee. It was great.

Here is Jack and Connor sharing one chair. They would keep moving from one chair to the next and sit on top of each other instead of just one sitting on one chair each. It was funny.

Connor liked Jessica and sat on her lap as he played. Jack didn't seem too jealous that his Mommy had a new playmate.

Jack and Connor had fun playing together and making a cold day indoors so much more fun.

Here is a picture of Connor's school Valentine treats.

Connor showing off his cute Valentine's shirt (and his cheeks).

Looks like a heart breaker to me.

My sweet little Valentine.

On Saturday, we got to meet Simon and hang out with his parents Meg and Brad. It was really nice to meet him. What a cutie.
