Just like in Austin, when we arrived he was asleep in his carseat and we had to transition him into a pack and play. Thank goodness, he fell right back to sleep.
Saturday was a big day. It was the first day Connor got to sport his college football watching gear, namely Michigan and A&M onesies. They must have worked, because both of our teams were victorious and sadly that may be hard to come by for both teams this season, so it was quite a nice treat.
Connor seemed to enjoy the college football festivities. He played and napped and kept on schedule fairly well. He became a little fussy at times and he did spit up a fair amount on my Aunt and Uncle's carpet (sorry), but I would say overall it was a good day.
Around 6pm, Connor's second cousin (my cousin) Hilary came over to meet him. It was a brief visit as we were feeding him and starting the getting ready for bed process, but she got to help with the bath and see him. She also brought him this cool outfit complete with a faux leather jacket. He's going to be so styling in that.
I had originally thought the wedding we were attending was at 6pm, so I thought my Aunt would have to bath him and put him to bed, but it was actually at 7:30 so we were able to put Connor to bed right before we left. It worked out great and he didn't make one peep while we were at the wedding. Good boy.
The wedding was a blast and I just love hanging out with my high school girl friends. It is always such a good time. Plus, I got to see my best friend Erin Shea, who just recently got engaged. Congrats! The only not-so-smart decision was the one to stay out until 1:30AM knowing Connor would be up around 3AM and 6AM. Oh well. As I've said before, it was worth it, but I was certainly dragging a bit on Sunday.
Sunday was a different story for Connor attitude wise and it may have been my fault. I had arranged for my girlfriends to meet Connor, while I also got to meet my friend Molly's son Benji and my friend Hilary's son Cade. It's surreal that three out of our group of 9 friends have babies now and they are all boys. Benji is 6 months, Cade is 4 months, and Connor is 2 months.
The timing was a little off so I tried to stretch his feedings and his naps. Boy did that backfire. At home he was OK, but about 30 minutes before I was leaving to go over to Molly's house, Connor started wailing. My Aunt took a turn at calming him and sadly she got a big earful of cries. She did great and he would calm down sometimes, but then strike right back up again. I was very worried as this wasn't a good sign of things to come for our visit with the girls. Oh well. I drove over there, hoping feeding him might help. Unfortunately, not so much.
Connor spent most of the three hours pouting or full out crying while we were at Molly's. I knew everyone understood, but I felt bad, because I'd get him calm and see if he could be held by someone else and then he'd start crying again. The person holding him felt like it was their fault of course, but I tried to tell them not to take it personally, Connor was just having a bad day. I think there is something to be said for traveling, because now both times Jeff and I have gone out of town, one day Connor is not happy at all.
We did manage some calm time and were able to take a couple shots of all three boys and the boys with their Moms. Despite Connor's temperament, we still had a really good time. It was fun having a play date with Connor's new buddies and my best friends.
The drive back from Plano was much smoother, but we are all pretty pooped. It's a short week this week, but it will be a full one, because on Friday morning we leave for our first flight to Amarillo to see Jeff's parents and attend a few 10 year high school reunion activities at Jeff's high school. I am nervous about going through security and flying with Connor, but you never know, he might just surprise us and be a perfect angel.
Go Blue, Wear Maize. Connor was fascinated with Aunt Joan who he couldn't stop looking at while we were taking these pictures. He's thinking, "She looks like Grandma Roach, but she's not."
Mommy says goodbye to her little boy before the wedding. I always miss the little guy. Of course I talked about him a ton at the wedding. He's always on my mind.
On Sunday, we went to my friend Molly's house to give everyone a chance to meet Connor and to have a play date with the other little boys. This is Erin Shea's Dad, Mike.
All the gang gathered around the babies. A lot has changed in the 10 years since we've graduated high school that's for sure, but we're all still really great friends and that will never change.
Erin Shea holds Connor.
I'm not sure why these next two won't rotate but here's one of Connor and Cade looking at each other. I think Cade is telling him about how cool rice cereal is. It's what big boys eat.
Sorry it won't rotate. Anyway, Benji (6 months), Connor (2 months), Cade (4 months).
Moms and best friends, Hilary and Cade, Me and Connor, and Molly and Benji. Miss you guys already.
awww! He was a blast, I thought he did a good job. Connor gave us smiles and let us touch his gorgeous hair, that's all everyone remembers:) I love his Aggie gear, yay Connor!
